I’m Not Coming to the Office Today…Or Ever

Dear prospective employer, I don’t want to work in your office, and I don’t want to waste my life away commuting. You may have a beautiful office with fabulous office culture, but that’s not going to change my mind. You can stock snacks in the fridge and pay for lunches or the gym, but I’m still not convinced. It’s not anything against you. I’m not antisocial or looking to get paid for being lazy. It’s because I don’t think traditional ideas about working apply anymore. Instead, I value flexibility which comes with a variety of benefits to me and my family.

You may think this is the spoiled tantrum of a millennial who thinks everything should be their way but think again. It’s part of a trend where employees are quickly realizing they can work from anywhere. Who wants a grueling commute that means they’ll be stressed and exhausted by the time they sit down with their family?
